His parents were actually the 'king' and 'queen' of one of the many lion prides in Africa. He has a twin sister, Xilasette, though they look nothing alike. He was blond with blue eyes, yet she was white with red eyes--an albino. Their parents weren't the best in the world. No, wait, scratch that. They were the worst in the world. Their father had anger issues, and their mother was just plain sadistic. They also lashed out and blamed the twins for everything that happens, good or bad. Xilasette took the most damage, for their parents didn't like the little 'albino' fact.
The twins could only take so much of that. After a couple years passed, they just left, running for their young lives. They were bloodied, brused, and had large gashes everywhere. Both of them had the habit of turning into their feline forms while scared since the display of aggression from their parents led to them running out of the cave to hide behind the other lionesses of the pride. They literally left a trail of blood as they fled. Somewhere along the way, Kojo lost sight of his sister, but he continued running, never looking back. By midnight, he had fainted from bloodloss and exhaustion.
When he awoke, the first thing he saw was not the savanna he knew and loved. He was in a beige and blue room, laying in a silken bed with bandages wrapping up most of his body. Even with all the bandages, he could still move. Keep in mind that he was still in his lion cub form. He rolled off the bed, letting out a high pitched cry in pain at the impact. Then the scent of human filled the room as the door swung open and a young man rushed to his side. By 'young man', I mean he was only twenty-one, probably still in college. He quickly picked up the cub (Kojo's on the small side, so it was easier) and placed him on the bed. The young lion just stared, dumbfounded. The lionesses had told him stories of the humans, saying that they were bad omens and never to trust them. This one seemed pretty trustable.
From that day forth, Kojo lived with the man. He had come to learn the man's name--Sauli Linna--and that he had taken Kojo to Finland, a place far from Africa. A year passed, and the man never questioned why the cub hadn't grown an inch. Another year passed, and another. During a family gathering at the Linna household, the cub made his 'debute' with the humans. Aparently, Sauli had been keeping him a secret from everyone else. With a simple leather collar around his neck and a leather leash connected to said collar, the man led him out into the room, a goofy smile on his face. Kojo stuck close to the man's leg, well more clinging than anything else. There were gasps of shock, and he was quite certain he heard a shreak or two from one of the women. The man told them of how he had found the cub on a school trip to Africa. They didn't believe him when he said the cub had been in his care for about three years now. He still looked like he was only six months of age!
Then a surprise occured. Three years of never turning back into your humanoid form has its downfalls. Randomly changing back is one of them. While he was sitting by Sauli's leg, his whole body began to change. No, not the puberty change. I doubt he will go through that anytime soon. All the fur vanished, and the cub was replaced with a young human boy. A naked human boy. The room was silent for a moment before one of the women simply fainted. While she was rushed off into a guest room, Suali blinked a few times, reaching down to scratch the boy behind the ears (his lion ears and tail hadn't vanished yet--another downfall). The action resulted in the boy leaning closer to the man, purring. After getting him a shirt (it was more of a dress on him) to wear, Kojo went about, being passed from person to person as they wanted to make sure he was real for themselves. Yes, he was real. He enjoyed the attention, though. Until one of the kids decided it was a good idea to pull his tail.
The party ended and life turned back to normal, for the most part. Kojo had only known the African language, so Sauli made sure to teach him Finnish and the most popular langauge of English. It took him a couple of weeks just to get the alphabet down. Within two years, he knew pretty much all there was to know about Finnish and English, and he could speak it pretty well. Though, on words he still didn't know, he would fade off and just stare at the other person (well, Sauli at the time) as if they were going to fill in the blank.
Only a year ago did Sauli believe it was time to relocate Kojo. Werepeople weren't really... Accepted in society, and people were getting suspicious as to why he had a never-aging lion cub. Well, why he had a lion cub in the first place. So, the man took him to Japan and to the temple of Altum. They both crossed through the mirror (at the same time since there was a little line waiting on the other side anyway). Sauli and him traveled around for a few weeks before Sauli fell ill. The Finnish man died shortly after he became ill. Kojo was lost without the man, and he stayed by his grave until hunger drove him away. He wandered until he decided take up odd jobs to keep him alive. He even tried hunting once, but his instincts on that weren't up to par from living the life of a pet for so long.
